 24-7-2025: According to the observations at 17:30 hrs MST today, the Low Pressure Area over North Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and further intensify into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal, India and Bangladesh Coasts during next 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move towards West Bengal and adjoining North Odisha Coasts, India during next 36 hours. Monsoon is vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region and Kachin State, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago and Yangon Regions, Northern Shan, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States, scattered in Upper Sagaing and Ayeyarwady Regions and widespread in Taninthayi Region, (Southern & Eastern)Shan and Chin States with isolated heavy falls in Mandalay Region. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Hlaingtat (2.95)inches, Kyeikkhame (2.68)inches, Taunggyi and Kawthaung (1.77)inches each, and Naypyitaw(Yezin)  (0.75)inch and Minesat and Manaung (0.71)inch each.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SPECIAL FEATURES: According to the observations at (12:30)hrs MST today, the typhoon ‘Doksuri’ over the South China Sea has been crossing to the Vietnam Coasts and it is forecast to move West wards.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 16th September, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Kachin and Northern Shan States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandaly and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Chin and Rakhine States and widespread in Taninthayi Region, (Southern & Eastern) Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Mandalay and Taninthayi Regions, Southern Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainly is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Sea will be slight to moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (7-10)feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (4-6)feet in along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Bago, Yangon Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon States.
