27-7-2024: According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining Costal areas of Bangladesh and Gangetic West Bengal, India intensified into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and cross Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand and North Odisha, India during next 12 hrs. Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Taninthayi Region, fairly widespread in Southern Shan, Kayin States, scattered in Ayeyarwady Region and Mon State and isolated in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon Regions and Northern Shan, Chin, Kayah States. Weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were 8°C above May average temperature in Mon State, 5°C above May average temperatures in Bago Region and Kayin State, 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Eastern Shan States and 2°C above May average temperatures in (Northern and Southern)Shan, Rakhine, Kayah States and about May average temperatures in Chin State. The significant day temperatures were observed 44.6°C in Chauk, 43.0°C each in Myingyan, Nyaung Oo, Magway and Taungdwingyi, 42.7°C in Aunglan, 42.5°C in Myinmu, 42.4°C in Pyay, 42.3°C each in Tada U(Aviation-Met) and Sinbyugyun and 42.2°C in Kyaukse(Lunkyaw) on 13-5-2024. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 1.81 inches in Paung, 1.64 inches in Thaton, 1.22 inches in Dawei, 1.14 inches in Pathein, 1.05 inches in Kangyidaung, 0.75 inch in Kawthaung, 0.43 inch in Myeik, 0.20 inch each in Mogoke and Labutta, 0.16 inch in Myawaddy and 0.12 inch in Kyaukmae.

BAY INFERENCE: Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 15th May 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Taninthayi Region scattered in Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Southern Shan, Kayin, Mon States and isolated in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago Regions and Kachin, (Northern and Eastern)Shan, Chin, Kayah States. Degree of certainty is 80%. Weather will be partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing, Magway Regions and Rakhine State.

THE CONDITION OFCUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and (Southern and Eastern)Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of slight increase of day temperatures in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago Regions and Kachin State.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 15th May 2024:             Possibility of isolated light rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is 40%.
