SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hrs, weather have been partly cloudy in Northern Shan State and Lower Sagaing Region, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin State, scattered in Yangon Region, Southern Shan and Chin States, fairly widespread in Bago Region and Rakhine State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Kayin State and isolated heavy falls in Mon State. Day temperatures were (2°C) above May average temperatures in Bago and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine and Kayah States, (9°C) below May average temperature in Eastern Shan State, (5°C to 6°C) below May average temperatures in Sagaing Region, Northern Shan and Kayin States, (3°C to 4°C)  below May average temperatures in Mandalay and Taninthayi Regions, Chin State, (2°C)  below May average temperatures in Magway Region, Southern Shan and Mon States and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperature was (39°C) in Bawlakhae. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Kyarinseikgyi (3.77)inches, Paung (3.74)inches, Hpa-an (3.11)inches, Kawkayeit (2.56)inches, Bago (2.44)inches, Madauk (2.36)inches, Mawlamyein (2.33)inches, Kyaukphyu (1.73)inches, Thaton (1.70)inches and  Mudon (1.65)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay and weather is a few clouds over the North Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 19th May, 2017: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States, scattered in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady regions, Rakhine States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainly is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35- 40) m.p.h.  Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar water.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of thundery activities in Deltaic Areas.
