16-2-2026:  According to the observations at 13:30 hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area has formed over the East Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining South Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move west–northwestwards and further intensify over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean on 18-2-2026. Weather is a few cloud over the North Bay and Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Early Warning For Weather Events During The Summer Period No.(4/2024)

1.       During the period of April and May isolated rain or thundershowers are likely in the afternoon or evening accompanied with strong wind, hails, thunder and lightning, due to the convective cloud by gradually rising day temperatures in the whole country. Surface wind speed in strong wind may reach 40 mph to 50 mph.

 

2.         Public is advised to take necessary awareness with the weather events during April and May and domestic airlines and cruises are also advised to take precautionary measures.
