SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Kayah State, rain or thundershower have been isolated in Lower Sagaing Region and Northern Shan State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing and Magway Regions, Southern Shan State, fairly widespread in Mandalay and Bago Regions, Kachin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Ayeyarwady Region and isolated heavy falls in Magway Region and Kayin State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Pathein (3.98)inches, Hainggyikyun (3.42)inches, Myaungmya (3.23)inches, Hlaingbwe (3.15) inches, Yay (2.95)inches, phyarpon (2.75)inches, Launglone (2.72)inches, Kawkayeit and Myawady (2.64)inches each, Dawei (2.52)inches, Thaton (2.48)indches, Paung (2.44)inches, Kyainseikkyi (2.41) inches, Minesat (2.13)inches, Hpa-an (2.04)inches and Mawlamyine (2.00)inches, Ann and Kyeikkhame (1.81)inches each, Yangon(Northern Dagon) (1.77)inches, Htilin (1.55)inches and Bhamo (1.54)inches.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:00)hrs M.S.T today, a low pressure area has formed over North Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 16th August, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing Region, Southern Shan and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Ayeyarwady Region and Mon State and isolated heavy falls in Bago, Yangon and Taninthayi Regions, Rakhine and Kayin States. STATE OF THE SEA: Occasionally squalls with rough sea will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h.
