SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region, rain or thundershower have been scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region, Kachin, Southern Shan and Kayah States fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Ayeyarwady Region and Mon State, isolated heavy falls in Yangon Region, Rakhine and Kayin States. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Kangyongon (5.20) inches, Kyainseikkyi (4.95)inches, Phyarpon (4.89)inches, Pathein (4.33)inches, Myaungmya and Mawlamyine (4.18)inches each, Kyeikkahame (3.70)inches, Kyeikmayaw (3.53)inches, Thandwe (3.15)inches, Chaungsone (2.99) inches and Dawei (2.92)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, yesterday the low pressure area over North Bay of Bengal has moved over  Northwest Bay of Bengal still persists. It may further intensify into a depression during next (24) hours.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 17th August, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Lower Sagaing Region, scattered in Mandalay Region and Southern Shan State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing and Magway Regions, Kachin, Northern Shan and Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Ayeyarwady Region, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Yangon and Taninthayi Regions. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasionally squalls with rough sea will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40-45) m.p.h.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of decrease of rain in Ayeyarwady Region.
