Severe Cyclonic Storm “YAAS”

            According to the observations at (18:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Severe Cyclonic Storm “YAAS” over the Westcentral Bay and adjoining Eastcentral and North Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards and reached over the Northwest Bay of Bengal. It is centered at about (405) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Pathein, about (280) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Sittwe (Myanmar), about (110) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Paradip and about (155) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Digha (India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Severe Cyclonic Storm“YAAS” is coded yellow stage.

           The Severe Cyclonic Storm “YAAS” is located at Latitude (19.1) degree North and Longitude (88.1) degree East, centre pressure of Severe Cyclonic Storm is (982) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (70) miles per hour at (18:30) hrs MST today.

During next (48) hrs Forecast

            The Severe Cyclonic Storm “YAAS” is likely to move North-Northwestwards and forecast to intensify into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “YAAS” during next (6)hrs. It is forecast to cross between North Odisha and West Bengal Coasts during next (48)hrs.

General caution

Due to the Severe Cyclonic Storm “YAAS”, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine States with isolated heavy falls in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine State during next (48)hrs commencing tonight.

Occasional squalls with very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40-45)m.p.h. Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (13 -17)feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast and about (9-13)feet in Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

Due to the Severe Cyclonic Storm “YAAS”, people should be aware rain or thundershowers with strong wind and lightning and domastic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
