 25-7-2025: According to the observations at 05:30 hrs MST today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over North Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to continue to move west-northwestwards and further intensify into a Depression over West Bengal, India and Bangladesh Coasts during next 18 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to cross Genetic West Bengal, North Odisha, Jharkhand and adjoining North Chhattisgarh during next 2 days. Monsoon is vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

Severe Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS” Condition

According to the observations at (21:30)hrs M.S.T today, theCyclonic Storm“MANDOUS”over Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved West-Northwestwards and intensified into a Severe Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS”. It is centered at about (660) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco Island, (755) Nautical miles West-Southwest ofHainggyigyun(Myanmar), (175) Nautical miles East-Northeast of Jaffna (Sri Lanka) and (230) Nautical miles Southeast of Chennai(India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Severe Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS” is coded yellow stage.

Position of Severe Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS”, center pressure and wind

            The Severe Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS” is located at Latitude (10.3) degree North and Longitude (82.9) degree East, centre pressure of Deep Depression is (990) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (55-60) miles per hour at (21:30)hrs MST today.

During next (48) hrs forecast

 It is likely continue to move West-Northwestwards and then weaken into a Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS” around noon of (9.12.2022). It is likely to cross North Tamilnaduand adjoining South Andhra Pradesh coasts(India) between Puducherry and Sriharikota, near Mahabalipuramaround morning of (10.12.2022).

General caution

Due to the Severe Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS”, rain or thundershowers are likely to be scattered in Yangon,Ayeyarwady,TaninthayiRegions and isolated in Bago Region and Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States from tonight to duringnext (48) hrs. Squalls with rough seas are likely at time off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (35) mph.Wave height will be about (8-10) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
