22-10-2025: According to the observations at 15:30 hrs MST today, the Well Marked low pressure area over the Southwest Bay of Bengal (off Tamil Nadu coast, India) still persists. It is likely to move Northwestwards and may across North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and South Andhra Pradesh coasts, India during next 24 hours. Weather is a few cloud over the North Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Post Monson Forum (Tanintharyi Region)

The opening ceremony of the “Post Monsoon Forum (Tanintharyi Region)” which is jointly organized by Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) was held at (09:00) am on 18th December 2020 by Video Conferencing. At the opening ceremony, the Deputy Director General from Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, Daw Khin Cho Cho Shein delivered the Welcome Remarks. After that, Emergency and Rehabilitation Coordinator from Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Mr. Reda LEBTAHI were given the Remarks.

Representatives from Departments under the Ministry of Transport and Communications, departmental representatives from Disaster Management, delegates from UN, NGO and INGO, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and other departmental representatives; the total of about (65) participants attended at the opening ceremony.

The Workshop is focused on the reviewing of weather and water level conditions during the 2020 Southwest Monsoon Season, presenting of the seasonal outlook for the Northeast Monsoon Season (2020-2021), discussing and sharing the experiences and challenges on the usability of the seasonal forecasts and recommendations for enhancement of early warning system from service users and taking early action based on the seasonal forecast to response to potential disasters.
