Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS” Condition

According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Severe Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS” over Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved West-Northwestwards and downgraded into a Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS” over Southwest Bay of Bengal (off North Tamilnadu- Puducherry coasts(India)). It is centered at about (730) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco Island, (815) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Hainggyigyun (Myanmar), (115) Nautical miles Northeast of Jaffna (Sri Lanka) and (125) Nautical miles South-Southeast of Chennai(India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS” is coded yellow stage.

Position of Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS”, center pressure and wind

            The Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS” is located at Latitude (11.3) degree North and Longitude (81.3) degree East, centre pressure of Deep Depression is (994) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (50-55) miles per hour at (13:30)hrs MST today.

During next (24) hrs forecast

 It is likely to move Northwestwards and cross North Tamilnadu and adjoining South Andhra Pradesh coasts(India) between Puducherry and Sriharikota, near Mahabalipuram around morning of (10.12.2022).

General caution

Due to the Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS”, rain or thundershowers are likely to be isolated in Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States from tonight to during next (24) hrs. Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at time off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (30-35) mph.Wave height will be about (7-9) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

Due to the Cyclonic Storm “MANDOUS”, people should be awared the rainfall with strong wind, thunderstorms, and domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
