Deep Depression Condition

            According to the observations at 15:30 hrs MST today, the Deep Depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka Coast has moved North-Northwestwards and it is centered at about 800 Nautical miles Southwest of Coco Island (Myanmar), 125 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Tricomalee(Srilanka), 340 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Puducherry(India).

It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Deep Depression is coded as yellow stage.

The Deep Depression is located at Latitude 6.7 degree North and Longitude 82.1 degree East, centre pressure of Depression is 1000 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 35 miles per hour at 15:30 hrs MST today.

It is likely to move North-Northwestwards and further intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during next 6 hours. Thereafter, it is likely continuing to move North-Northwestwards and further intensify towards North Tamil Nadu and adjoining South Andhra Pradesh coasts.
