SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Kayah State, scattered in Magway, Sagaing Regions and Kachin, Chin States, fairly widespread in Bago Region and Kayin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Mon State and isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Magway, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 8.35 inches in Mawlamyine, 7.76 inches in Thaton, 6.97 inches in Ye, 6.50 inches in Chaungsone, 5.91 inches in Mudon, 5.12 inches each in Naypyitaw(Ottarathiri) and Hainggyigyun, 5.08 inches in Dawei, 4.61 inches in Kyeikmayaw, 3.86 inches in Pakokku and 3.84 inches in Singaing.
BAYINFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 17th August 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Sagaing Region and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Chin, Rakhine and Northern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Magway, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, (Northern and Southern) Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Occassional squall with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35 mph. Wave height will be about 11-13 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 25-30 mph. Wave height will be about 8-10 feet off and along Rakhine Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Increase of rain in Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Mon, Rakhine States.
