SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Kachin, Chin, Rakhine States, scattered in Kayah, Northern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Mon State and isolated heavyfalls in Magway, Taninthayi Regions. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 6.53 inches in Kyeikmayaw, 6.42 inches in Thaton, 5.66 inches in Ye, 4.17 inches in Paung, 3.78 inches in Mawlamyine, 3.62 inches in Kawthaung, 3.35 inches in Kyeikkhame, 3.16 inches in Minbu, 3.11 inches in Mudon and 2.95 inches in Belin.
BAYINFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 18th August 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Kachin, Northern Shan States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region and Kayah State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Chin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Chin, Rakhine States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Squall with rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph. Wave height will be about 9-11 feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Moderate to strong Monsoon.
