SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Kachin, Northern Shan States, scattered in Kayah State, fairly widespread in Kayin, Rakhine, Eastern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady Region. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 5.24 inches in Hainggyigyun, 2.99 inches in Thaton, 2.28 inches in Kungyangon, 2.18 inches in Dedaye, 2.05 inches each in Yangon(Botahtaung) and Coco Island, 1.92 inches in Kalewa, 1.85 inches in Einme, 1.74 inches in Phyarpon, 1.69 inches in Paung and 1.46 inches each in Yangon(Kaba-Aye) and Kalay.
BAYINFERENCE: According to the observations at 12:30 hrs M.S.T today, the well marked low pressure area over the Westcentral Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal (North Andhra Pradesh - South Odisha) coasts, India still persists. It is likely to move west–northwestwards and further intensify into a depression during next 12 hours and cross South Odisha-North Andhra Pradesh coasts on 19-8-2025. Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and moderate to strong over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 19th August 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Kayah, Northern Shan States, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Lower Sagaing Regions and Kachin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady Region and Kayin, Mon, Rakhine, (Southern and Eastern) Shan States. Degree of certainty is 100%.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Upper Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Chin, Rakhine States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph. Wave height will be about 9-11 feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 25-30 mph. Wave height will be about 8-10 feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
