SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Naypyitaw and Magway Region, Chin and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Sagaing, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Mandalay and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Lower Sagaing and Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were Yay (7.28)inches, Kya-Inn-Seikkyi (5.58)inches, Mawlamyine (5.43) inches, Paing Kyone (5.00)inches, Kyeikmayaw (4.65)inches, Kyaukse (4.64)inches, Belin (4.17)inches, Shwegwin (4.16)inches, Thandwe (3.82)inches, Singaing (3.80)inches, Amarapura (3.52)inches, Pathein (3.34)inches, Dawei (3.19)inches, Myittha (3.14) inches and Labutta (3.11)inches.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 29th August, 2019: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Naypyitaw and Magway Region and Kayah State, fairly widespread in (Northern and Eastern) Shan and Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Sagaing, Mandalay, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Chin and Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40)m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8 –10) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and about (5 – 8) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of increase of rain in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States.
