27-7-2024: According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining Costal areas of Bangladesh and Gangetic West Bengal, India intensified into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and cross Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand and North Odisha, India during next 12 hrs. Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Taninthayi Region and isolated in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Northern Shan, Mon States. Weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were 5°C to 6°C above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon States, 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Magway, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Shan, Rakhine, Kayah States and 2°C above May average temperatures in Chin State. The significant day temperatures were observed 44.4°C in Chauk, 44.1°C in Magway, 43.8°C in Tada U (Aviation-Met), 43.7°C in Mandalay, 43.6°C in Minbu, 43.5°C each in Nyaung Oo and Taungdwingyi, 43.4°C each in Myinmu and Aunglan, 43.2°C in Pyay and 43.0°C each in Shwebo, Myingyan and Kyaukse(Lunkyaw) on 14-5-2024. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 0.24 inch in Labutta, 0.20 inches in Myaungmya, 0.16 inch in Mawlamyine, 0.12 inch in Mudon and 0.08 inch each in Myitkyina, Kalewa, Sinbyugyun and Myeik.

BAY INFERENCE: Weather is cloudy over the South Bay and Westcentral Bay of Bengal and a few cloud to partly cloudy to over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 15th May 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Taninthayi Region and Southern Shan State and isolated in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Eastern Shan, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 80%. Weather will be partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States.

THE CONDITION OFCUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Taninthayi Region and (Southern and Eastern)Shan, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be slight to moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 4-7 feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of slight increase of day temperatures in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Shan, Kayah State.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 16th May 2024:   Party cloudy.

FORECAST FOR YANGON AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 16th May 2024:        Possibility of isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is 40%.
