SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Lower Sagaing Region and Kachin, Kayah, Rakhine, (Northern and Eastern)Shan States, farily widespread in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States and isolated heavyfalls in Mandalay, Upper Sagaing Regions and Mon State. Day temperatures were 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Taninthayi Region and Kachin, Kayin States, 2°C above May average temperatures in Bago, Magway Regions and Mon, Eastern Shan States and 2°C below May average temperature in Rakhine State and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were 42.4°C in Chauk, 40.0°C in Nyaunglaybin, 39.1°C in Myinmu, 38.9°C in Sinbyugyun, 38.4°C in Aunglan, 38.3°C in Magway, 38.0°C each in Nyaung Oo and Pakokku and 37.5°C each in Myingyan, Taunggu and Taungdwingyi on 22-5-2025. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 4.61 inches in Paung, 3.03 inches in Kalay, 2.91 inches in Thaton, 2.01 inches in Hpa-an, 1.89 inches in Hmawbi, 1.77 inches each in Labutta and Mudon, 1.73 inches each in Hpa-an(Agro-Met) and Kyeikkhame, 1.57 inches in Meikhtila and 1.50 inches in Phyarpon.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 24th May 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and Northern Shan State, fairly widespread in Bago, Magway, Upper Sagaing Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Chin, (Southern and Eastern)Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Mandalay, Upper Sagaing Regions and Kayin, Mon States. THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Rakhine, (Northern and Eastern)Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 25-30 mph. Wave height will be about 7 - 9 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of advancement of southwest monsoon into the Northern Myanmar areas.
