Severe Cyclonic Storm

 According to the observations at (22:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm "FANI" over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal has intensified into a Severe Cyclonic Storm “FANI” and it is centered centered at about (305) miles East-Northeast of Trincomalee (Sri-Lanka), (385)miles Southeast of Chennai (India) and (465)miles Southeast of Machilipatnam. It is forecast to move Northwestwards.
It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the Severe Cyclonic Storm is coded yellow stage.

Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI" is located at Latitude (10.1) degree North and Longitude (86.1) degree East, centre pressure of Severe Cyclonic Storm is (992) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (60)miles per hour at (22:30) hrs MST today.

During next (48)hrs forecast

It is forecast to further intensify into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI" during next (24)hrs and an Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI" during next (48)hrs. It is forecast to move Northwestwards and then recurve North-Northeastwards during next (48)hours.

General caution

Under the influence of Severe Cyclonic Storm "FANI", rain will be scattered to fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Magway, Bago, Yangon,  Ayeyarwady and Thaintharyi Regions, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States within next (72)hours commencing tonight.
Squalls with rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40)m.p.h. Wave height will be about (8-10) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
