28-10-2025:According to the observations at 15:30 hrs MST today, the Severe Cyclonic Storm “MONTHA” over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards still persists. It is centered at about 630 Nautical miles West of Coco Island (Myanmar), 210 Nautical miles Northeast of Chennai(India) and 70 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Kakinada (India).Weather is a few cloud over the Northeast Bay and Eastcentral Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayah State, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Kachin and Eastern Shan States,fairly widespread in Yangon and Taninthayi Regions, Mon State, scattered in Upper Sagaing and Bago Regions,(Northern and Southern) Shan, Chin, Rakhine and Kayin States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Rakhine State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Maungdaw (4.02)inches, Machanbaw (2.80)inches, Hkamti (2.60)inches, Sittwe (1.97) inches,Yangon(North Dagon) (1.65)inches and Yangon (Mingaladon) and Khayan (1.57)inches each.

BAY INFERENCE: Weather is cloudy over the North Bay and Central Bay of Bengal and monsoon is weak to moderate over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 13th October, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Kachin State, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing and Yangon Regions, Eastern Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States, scattered in Bago, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, (Northern and Southern) Shan State and isolated in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Rakhine State. Degree of certainty is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (35) m.p.h. Seas will be moderate in elsewhere Myanmar waters.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of withdrawal  southwest monsoon from southern Myanmar areas.
