17-11-2025:  According to the observations at 15:30 hrs MST today, the low pressure area over the Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka Coast still persists. It is likely to move slowly West-Northwestwards during the next 24 hours. Weather a few cloud over the North Bay and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Weather Forecast for 2018 Early Monsoon Season

Early Monsoon Period

          The early monsoon period is establishment of Southwest Monsoon over Myanmar to the end of June.

Onset of Southwest Monsoon

          Southwest monsoon is likely to set in:

  1. Southern Myanmar  Areas during (16-20) of May
  2. Deltaic Areas during (21-25) of May
  3. Central Myanmar Areas during (26  - 31)of May
  4. Northern Myanmar Areas during (1 – 5)of  June

Bay of Bengal Condition

Three Low Pressure Areas may form over the Bay of Bengal and two may further intensify into the Depressions. During the early monsoon period, monsoon will be moderate to strong.

Rain Condition

Rain will be expected  above normal rain in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Rakhine and Mon States and about normal in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway and Taninthayi  Regions, Kachin, Shan, Chin, Kayah and Kayin  States.
