SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, weather have been partly cloudy in Kayah State. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Magway Region and Kachin State, scattered in Yangon, Bago Regions and Kayin, Mon States, fairly widespread in Ayeyarwady Region and Chin, Rakhine, Northern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States and isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Lower Sagaing Regions and Southern Shan State. Day temperatures were 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Taninthayi Region and Kayin State, 2°C above May average temperature in Chin State and 2°C below May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing Region and Southern Shan State and 3°C below May average temperature in Eastern Shan State and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were 40.4°C in Chauk, 38.6°C in Myinmu, 38.2°C in Kyaukse(Lunkyaw), 38.0°C in Nyaunglaybin, 37.8°C each in Myingyan and Tada U(Aviation-Met), 37.5°C in Kawkareik, 37.0°C in Minbu,  36.8°C in Dawei and 36.6°C each in Monywa and Hpa-an on 17-5-2025. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 4.33 inches in Ywangan, 3.07 inches in Naypyitaw(Pobbathiri), 2.91 inches in Thazi(Hlaingtat), 1.93 inches in Sittwe, 1.90 inches in Naypyitaw(Dekkhinathiri), 1.65 inches in Shwebo, 1.50 inches in Pinlaung, 1.46 inches in Myitnge, 1.38 inches in Okkan and 1.22 inches in Myingyan.

BAYINFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and Eastcentral Bay of Bengal. Weather is cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 19th May 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Magway Region and Kayah, Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Regions and Chin, Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Mandalay, Ayeyarwady Regions and Chin, Rakhine, Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph. Wave height will be about 7 - 9 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuations of condition of thundery activities in the Central Myanmar areas.
