SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Rakhine, Northern Shan States, fairly widespread in Yangon, Lower Sagaing Regions and (Southern and Eastern)Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 2.56 inches in Putao, 2.36 inches in Ngathaichaung, 2.25 inches in Madauk, 1.97 inches in Pyinmana, 1.90 inches in Paung, 1.77 inches in Thaton, 1.69 inches in Laiway, 1.61 inches in Naypyitaw(Zayarthiri), 1.58 inches in Dawei and 1.54 inches in Shwekyin.
BAYINFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
Special Features: According to the observations at 12:30 hrs MST today, the Tropical Storm “WIPHA” over the South China Sea has further intensified into a Severe Tropical Storm “WIPHA”. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and move to the Southern Coasts of China on 20-7-2025. Thereafter, it is likely to continue to cross Northern Vietnam on 22-7-2025.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 20th July 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Magway Region and Kayah, Rakhine States, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Lower Sagaing Regions and Northern Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Kachin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Upper Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin State. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35 mph. Wave height will be about 9-12 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Seas will be moderate off and along Myanmar Coasts. Wave height will be about 6-8 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon, Eastern Shan States.
