BAYINFERENCE:  Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Special Features: According to the observations at 05:30 hrs MST today, the Severe Tropical Storm “WIPHA” over the South China Sea. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards. It may reach over the Southern Coasts of China during next 18 hours and Gulf Of Tonkin during next 36 hrs. Thereafter, it is likely to continue to cross Northern Vietnam on 22-7-2025.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 20th July 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Mandalay, Lower Sagaing and Magway Regions and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw and Northern Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Mon State and isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady region and  Kayin and Northern Shan States. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Taninthayi Region and Mon, Easthern Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35 mph. Wave height will be about 9-13 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Seas will be moderate off and along Myanmar Coasts. Wave height will be about 6-8 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon, Eastern Shan States.
