BAYINFERENCE: Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.
Special Features: According to the observations at 06:30 hrs MST today, the Tropical Storm “WIPHA” over the Gulf of Tonkin has moved West-Southwestwards and further intensified into a Severe Tropical Storm “WIPHA” and thereafter, it start acrossing Northern Coast of Vietnam near Hanoi. It is likely to move West-Southwestwards and downgrad into a Tropical Storm “WIPHA” and weaken into a Tropical Depression over the Lao on 23-7-2025.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 22nd July 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Lower Sagaing Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady Regions and Shan State. Degree of certainty is 100%.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Taninthayi Region and Rakhine, Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough to very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35-40 mph. Wave height will be about 11-14 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Squalls with moderate to rough sea are likely at times off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 25-30 mph. Wave height will be about 7-9 feet off and along Rakhine Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Rain or thundershowers with regionally heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin, Mon, (Southern and Eastern) Shan States.
