SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Northern Shan State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Magway, Lower Sagaing Region, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Region and Kayah, Southern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Kayin, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 7.16 inches in Paung, 6.57 inches in Thaton, 6.26 inches in Dawei, 5.95 inches in Hpa-an, 5.83 inches in Hpa-an(Agro-Met), 5.75 inches in Belin, 5.39 inches in Pathein, 4.84 inches in Kyeikkhame, 4.18 inches in Mawlamyine and 3.78 inches in Mudon.
BAYINFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.
Special Features: According to the observations at 12:30 hrs MST today, the Troipical Storm “Kajiki” over South China Sea is moving Westwards. It is further intensify into a Severe Tropical Storm “Kajiki” during next 24 hrs which is likely continue to move Westwards.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 24th August 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Northern Shan State, fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayah, Chin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon, Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is 100%.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Mon, Rakhine, (Southern and Eastern)Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 25-30 m.p.h. Wave height will be about 8-10 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Mon, (Southern and Eastern)Shan States.
