SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Mandalay, Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Kachin, Kayah, Rakhine, Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Bago Region and Kachin, Kayin, Mon States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 3.40 inches in Paing Kyone, 3.39 inches in Phyu, 3.19 inches in Putao, 3.11 inches in Ye, 2.83 inches in Coco Island, 2.08 inches in Thandaunggyi, 1.93 inches in Heho, 1.73 inches in Hpa-an, 1.69 inches in Hainggyigyun and 1.61 inches each in Hpa-an(Agro-Met) and Kyeikmayaw.
BAYINFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate to strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
Special Features: According to the observations at 12:30 hrs MST today, the Typhoon “Kajiki” over south china Sea has moved westwards. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and cross Upper Vietnam on 25-8-2025 and Upper Laos on 25-8-2025 and 26-8-2025.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 25th August 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Mandalay, Magway, Lower Sagaing Regions, fairly widespread in Kayah, Chin, Northern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin State. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph. Wave height will be about 9-11 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 25-30 mph. Wave height will be about 8-10 feet off and along Rakhine Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Isolated heavyfalls rain in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon, (Southern and Eastern)Shan States.
