SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Kachin, Kayah, Northern Shan States. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Chin State, scattered in Napyitaw, Magway, Upper Sagaing Regions, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Bago Regions and Rakhine State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Mandalay, Lower Sagaing Regions and Mon State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 4.96 inches in Kyeikkhame, 2.55 inches in Tada-U(Avia-Met), 2.29 inches in Myeik, 2.25 inches in Chaungsone, 1.89 inches in Paung, 1.81 inches in Hpa-an(Agro-Met), 1.65 inches each in Maubin and Hpa-an, 1.57 inches in Yeu, 1.54 inches in Nyaunglaybin and 1.34 inches each in Coco Island and Kawthaung.

BAYINFERENCE: According to the observations at 12:30 hrs M.S.T today, a low pressure area over the Northwest  Bay of Bengal (off Odisha Coast, India) still persists. It is likely to move West–Northwestwards and further intensify. Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate to strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Special Features: According to the observations at 12:30 hrs MST today, the Tropical Storm “Kajiki” over upper parts of Laos has crossed and moved Westwards and downgraded into a Tropical Depression. It is likely continue to move Westwards and downgrade into a low pressure cell over Northern Thailand during next 9 hrs.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 27th August 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Lower  Sagaing Regions and Chin, Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin, Mon, (Southern and Eastern)Shan States. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasionally squall with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 35 mph. Wave height will be about 10-12 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Squall with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 25-30 mph. Wave height will be about 8-10 feet in off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Moderate monsoon.
