BAYINFERENCE:  Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Special Features: According to the observations at 17:30 hrs MST today, the Severe Tropical Storm“TAPHA” over the Gaungdong, China has downgraded into a Tropical Storm“TAPHA” over the Eastern Guangxi, China. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and gradually weaken.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL NOON OF THE 9th September 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Magway Region and Kayah, Rakhine States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Bago, Sagaing Regions and Kachin, (Northern and Eastern)Shan States, fairly widespread in Chin, Southern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway, Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine, (Northern and Southern)Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas  are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 25-30 mph. Wave height will be about 8-10 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet in off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Shan State.
