SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayah, Chin, Rakhine, (Northern and Eastern) Shan States. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Mandalay, Magway Regions, scattered in Naypyitaw, Yangon, Bago Regions and Kayin, Mon States, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 2.83 inches in Mong Kung, 2.48 inches in Dawei, 1.84 inches in Ywangan,1.97 inches in Taunggyi, 1.61 inches in Phyarpon, 1.50 inches in Kawthaung, 1.44 inches in Kangyidaunt, 1.26 inches each in Myeik and Putao, 1.22 inches in Machanbaw and 1.06 inch in Myaungmya.

BAYINFERENCE:  Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak to moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SPECIAL FEATURES: According to the observations at 12:30 hrs MST today, the Tropical Depression over South china sea has moved West-Northwestwards and intensified into a Tropical Storm “MITAG”. It is likely to moved Northwestwards and cross the Southern coasts of China around 20-9-2025.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 19th September 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Magway, Lower Sagaing Regions and Chin, Rakhine States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Bago Regions and Kayah, Kayin, Mon, (Northern and Eastern) Shan States,  fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Northern Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas  are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 30 mph. Wave height will be about 9-11 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coast. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet in off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Bago, Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States.
