SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Kachin State. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayah, Rakhine, Northern Shan States, scattered in Magway, Taninthayi Regions, fairly widespread in Mandalay, Upper Sagaing Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States and isolated heavyfalls in Mandalay Region and Southern Shan State. Day temperatures were 2°C above May average temperatures in Taninthayi Region and Chin State and 2°C below May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Magway Region, 3°C to 4°C below May average temperatures in Bago Region and Kayah, Kayin, Mon, Shan States, 5°C to 6°C below May average temperatures in Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were 40.3°C in Chauk, 39.4°C in Myinmu, 39.0°C in Kyaukse(Lunkyaw), 38.7°C in Myingyan, 38.5°C in Tada U(Aviation), 38.3°C in Sinbyugyun, 38.0°C each in Mandalay and Magway, 37.8°C in Minbu and 37.5°C in Sagaing on 15-5-2025. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 4.96 inches in Taunggyi, 2.32 inches in Thaton, 2.28 inches each in Dedaye and Kungyangon, 2.24 inches in Khayan, 2.20 inches in Yangon(Botahtaung), 2.17 inches in Pyinoolwin, 2.01 inches in Yangon(Kaba-Aye) and 1.70 inches each in Kyaukpadaung and Ngathaichaung.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 17th May 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Mandalay, Magway, Sagaing Regions and Kachin, Rakhine, Northern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Chin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon, Rakhine States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph. Wave height will be about 7 - 9 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
