SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Mandalay Region and Kayin State, scattered in Yangon, Bago, Magway, Lower Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin State, fairly widespread in Mon, (Northern and Eastern)Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States and regionally heavyfalls in Naypyitaw and isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Rakhine State. Day temperatures were 2°C above May average temperatures in Taninthayi Region and Chin State and 2°C below May average temperatures in Yangon, Magway, Ayeyarwady Regions and (Northern and Eastern)Shan State and 3°C to 4°C below May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Kayah, Southern Shan States and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were 38.5°each in Yeu and Myinmu, 37.2°C in Chauk, 37.0°C each in Nyaunglaybin and Shwebo, 36.7°C in Sagaing, 36.6°C in Dawei, 36.5°C each in Tada U(Aviation) and Monywa, 36.4°C in Myingyan and 36.2°C in Kawkareik on 16-5-2025. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 4.72 inches in Sittwe, 3.54 inches in Ela, 3.11 inches in Hainggyigyun, 3.06 inches in Naypyitaw(Dekkhinathiri), 3.03 inches in Katha, 2.36 inches each in Laiway and Naypyitaw(Ottarathiri), 1.97 inches in Naypyitaw(Zabuthiri) and 1.73 inches each in Namsan(Southern Shan) and Minesat.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 18th May 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Magway Regions and Kayah, Northern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Mandalay, Ayeyarwady Regions and Chin, Rakhine, Northern Shan States. Degree of certainty is 100%.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Sagaing, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Chin, Rakhine, Eastern Shan States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph. Wave height will be about 7 - 9 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of onset of southwest monsoon into the Deltaic Myanmar Areas.
