SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past 24 hours, weather have been partly cloudy in Mandalay Region and Northern Shan State. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Naypyitaw, Magway, Lower Sagaing Regions and Kayah, Rakhine States, scattered in Southern Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Mon State and isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 7.05 inches in Chaungsone, 6.33 inches in Ye, 4.49 inches in Mudon, 4.33 inches in Kyeikmayaw, 3.19 inches in Mawlamyine, 3.15 inches in Dawei, 2.95 inches in Myeik, 2.88 inches in Kyeikkhame, 2.80 inches in Belin and 2.36 inches in Maubin.
BAYINFERENCE: Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
Special Features: According to the observations at 12:30 hrs MST today, the Severe Tropical Storm “WIPHA” over the South China Sea has move Westwards and now lie over near the Southern Coasts of China. It is likely continue to move Westwards and it may reach over the Gulf of Tonkin on 21-7-2025. Thereafter, it is likely to continue to cross Northern Vietnam on 22-7-2025.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 21st July 2025: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Magway, Lower Sagaing Regions and Kayah, Rakhine, Northern Shan States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region and Chin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of ragionally heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Mon State and isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayin State. Degree of certainty is 100%.
THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and (Northern and Southern) Shan State. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squalls with rough to very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 35-40 mph. Wave height will be about 11-14 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Seas will be moderate off and along Myanmar Coasts. Wave height will be about 6-8 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Regionally heavy rain in Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayah, Kayin, Mon, (Southern and Eastern) Shan States.
