SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Sagaing Region and Northern Shan State, scattered in Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kachin, Rakhine States, fairly widespread in Chin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Bago, Yangon Regions and Kayin, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Rakhine State. Day temperatures were (2°C) below May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin State and (3°C) to (4°C)  below May average temperatures in Yangon, Taninthayi Regions and Eastern Shan, Kayah, Kayin Mon States and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were (40°C) in Chauk and (39°C) in Aunglan. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (7.88) inches in Thaton, (7.25) inches in Ye, (7.05) inches in Hpa-an, (5.71) inches in Paung, (5.59) inches in Mawlamyine, (5.31) inches in Kawkareik, (5.28) inches in Mudon, (5.04) inches in Paing Kyone, (4.88) inches in Dawei  and (4.84) inches in Myawady.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is vigorous over the Andaman Sea, South Bay and Eastcentral Bay of Bengal. Weather is a few cloud to partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 22nd May, 2022: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Sagaing, Magway Regions and Kachin State, fairly widespread in Mandalay Region and Northern Shan, Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Bago, Yangon Regions and Eastern Shan State. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squall with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (40) mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (9-11) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (5-7) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuations of thundery activities in the Central Myanmar areas.
